I specifically loved the open back detail on 2 of the many Jacqueline Conoir dresses and the chunky cable knit scarves added an effortless touch to the "sexy-cool" look of JAC
It was a great show!

A Few Good Lights - Old Faithful Shop

Photos by Mona Sultan

Old Faithful Shop is located in Gastown Vancouver. The space has an overall historic feel to it and a wonderful selection of items reminiscent of the good old days, in fact, on the website, the store is described as follows: "Old Faithful Shop views itself as an updated version of a general store that would have existed here over 100 years ago."
Among the many beautiful things they carry, I couldn't help but notice their selection of lights: a wide range of colorful pendant lamp cords, glass pendants, retro desk lamps and brass cage lamps to name a few, all reasonably priced and are guaranteed to add a touch of originality to your space.
Make sure you pop by, this place will certainly give you lots of inspiration.

Pick of the Week - Spring Colors with Keely Anderson

Keely is wearing: Cover Girl Hot lipstick.

Keely Anderson is a Vancouver based hair/makeup/nail artist and owner of Glossed.
Last week, we met for a little chat about some of her spring color picks which she narrowed down to 3 categories:
Pastels, brights and metallics.
She chose lip, eye and nail colors that she believed are perfect for the start of the season and shared the following very useful tips:

Cute as a Button (pink) is a great color for all skin tones.
Turquoise and Caicos for fair skin tone.
Mink Muffs for olive skin tone.
All by Essie

From left to right:
Flame looks amazing on fair skinned blonds by Cover Girl
Fushia for brown hair/ brown eyes by Revlon.
Coral if you have olive skin/ medium tone by Revlon.

From left to right:
Cajun Shrimp looks best on brunettes.
Guy Meets Gal Veston for fair skin.
Dim Sum Plum for olive skin.
All by OPI

Try Tempting (top left) and Jest (top right) if you have blue eyes.
Surreal (bottom left) and Tempting (top left) if you have hazel eyes.
Aquadisiac (bottom right) and Tempting (top left)
The trick is to apply Tempting on the outside corner of your eyelid and the other color on the mid to inner corner.

All by Mac

Keely also recommends pairing bright lips with a neutral eye shadow palette:

Shroom (top left).
Yogurt (top right).
Soft Brown (bottom left)
Mylar (bottom right)
All by Mac

Other more general tips she shared:

- To keep bold lips bold, use a lip or foundation primer, line the entire lip with a natural liner, apply two THIN coats, blotting in between, and do NOT ever purse or play with your lips!!! This causes colour to shift or move outside your natural line.
- To brighten up your eyes, try lining the top in black, and the bottom in a soft brown.
- Don't' be afraid to use intense pastels on your eyes. It's fresh and fun! Skip the liner, but finish off with good application of mascara.

Keely has given me some of the best advice on how to keep my concealer and blush put all day long, I will cover these basics with her in another post soon, so stay tunned.
Have a great weekend!

The Art of Display - Sania Pell

Sania Pell is a designer, interior stylist and author from London who's blog I've been following for a while now. I have posted some photos of her very creative floral work in the past, but this time I am falling for her beautifully arranged displays. I am so inspired by the way she mixes vintage finds with new objects and very often adds a finishing floral touch. And what about that bulb root in the chemistry glassware??

The Pouch

My favorites: CĂ©line, Comme des Garçons, Bottega Veneta at net-a-porter, also baggu bag has a very cute and affordable selection of colors in their 'leather' section.

Pick of the Week - Meat & Bread

I am a big fan of details that make a space, and the first time I entered Meat & Bread, I noticed the small tasteful touches despite the lunch time rush (side note: THE best sandwich I've had in years).
I was instantly drawn to the display of Home Made Mustard jars against a vintage green embossed tin wall and the piles of wooden boards used as plates. I was particularly mesmerized with the distressed mirrors on the wall surrounded with intricate old school molding.
Meat & Bread has an interesting mix of Victorian and Industrial elements, a contrast that I personally find very appealing.

Special thanks to owner Frankie Harrington.

On the Runway - Blue Mascara

Make up artist Pat McGrath chose to go with blue mascara for Stella Mccartney's FW12 show.
The face was bare and the hair was pulled back. Here's what McGarth had to say about the eyes:  "First we’re layering on CoverGirl LashBlast mascara as a really dark, black base. Then we’ve mixed a bright, bright blue pigment we’re layering on top.” With little else on the face—“fresh skin, groomed brows".
Mesmerizing, don't you think?
